The Marcellus Shale Coalition (MSC), formerly known as the Marcellus Shale Committee, is made up of over forty natural gas exploration and production companies with an interest in Marcellus shale development in Pennsylvania. It has even a larger number of assoicate and non-profit members. MSC is jointly sponsored by the Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Association and the Independent Oil and Gas Association of Pennsylvania.

The Coalition has an extensive interactive website devoted to addressing concerns of government officials, regulators and the citizens of Pennsylvania about natural gas exploration and extraction. An extensive redesign of the site was unveiled in May, 2010.

MSC's purview is to address concerns regarding acquisition, development, drilling, and exploration of the Marcellus Shale natural gas formation, and speak with a unified voice for the natural gas exploration and production industry to governmental organizations at state and local levels.

According to a late November, 2009 press release the Marcellus Shale Coalition name became permanent to reflect the organization's broader membership. The group was established as a non-profit.
