Here is where some info about the National Oilwell Varco
should go. This article is still a stub and needs your
attention. It does not have a template and contains minimal

Houston, Texas-based National Oilwell Varco is a supplier of systems and components used in oil and gas drilling and production. It is the maker of the Drake rig specifically made for the terrain and drilling of Marcellus shale wells. The company expects to be making deliveries of the rig during the first quarter of 2009. The rig is named after "Colonel" Edwin Drake, the man responsible for the Drake Well, the first successful well drilled in northwestern Pennsylvania back in 1859.

Range Resources is one of the first companies planning to introduce the Drake Rig for drilling in Pennsylvania.

In order to accommodate the rugged Appalachian terrain a rig would need to have a relatively small footprint, great mobility, and the ability to drill in excess of 6,000 feet vertically and 3,000 feet horizontally.
