Houston, Texas-based Endeavour International Corp (NYSE Amex: END) (LSE: ENDV) is a natural gas exploration company with major emphasis on North Sea gas fields. Recently it began expanding its portfolio of properties in the U.S.

Endeavor was in the news in January, 2010 when it acquired 50% of the interests of Cohort Energy Company, a subsidiary of J-W Operating Company, in the latter's Marcellus leasehold through a participation agreement. This amoumted to 48,300 gross or 19,750 net acres. The leasehold was 44 percent held by production and located in western Pennsylvania. Endeavor was to pay $15 million up front and a share of Cohort's drilling and completion expenses for the next few years. The transaction also covered 7,250 net acres in the Haynesville shale formation.

According to an early December, 2010 announcement Endeavour planned to participate in drilling two horizontal pilot wells during the fourth quarter of 2010 in Cameron County, PA in the Daniel Field.
