Delmont, Pennsylvania-based Penneco Oil Company is an independent oil and gas exploration and production company.
According to a July, 2008 news account, Penneco had been drilling a Marcellus shale well on Bill Fawcett's farm in North Huntingdon Twp, Westmoreland County PA.
Penneco was reported to be drilling several Marcellus wells in Indiana County, PA.
A report in December, 2008 indicated Dominion had won a lawsuit, Penneco Pipeline Corp, et al versus Dominion. Penneco had taken out hundreds of top leases on land already leased to Dominion and used for gas storage. The court affirmed Dominion's right to the land, and that any wells drilled by Penneco on Dominion's leases would have to be transferred to Dominion.
