The 300 Line (aka 300 Line Expansion Project or TGP300 Line Expansion) is a $750 million project to expand the Tennessee Gas Pipeline by adding of a second, larger-diameter pipeline mostly using the same right of way as that of the original Tennessee pipeline.
The project consists of laying 128 miles of new 30" pipeline to replace the existing 24" branch beginning in Potter County, in north-central Pennsylvania leading on through Tioga, Bradford, Susquehanna, Wayne and Pike counties, and across the New Jersey counties of Sussex and Passaic. It cuts right across the region of Pennsylvania that is expected to be most prolific for Marcellus shale production. The first phase of the expansion is planned to be up and running by November, 2011.
The new pipeline will carry gas produced by Equitable Energy. It will also transmit gas from drilling companies involved in Marcellus shale development.
In February, 2010 El Paso announced that 100% of the capacity of the Northeast Upgrade Project had been subscribed by subsidiaries of Chesapeake Energy and Statoil-Hydro. This pipeline provides transportation from the 300 Line to interconnects in New Jersey for markets in the northeastern U.S.
