Warrendale, Pennsylvania-based Phillips Resources, Inc. (aka Phillips Exploration and Phillips Production Cos.) is an oil and gas exploration and production company with a long history of association in the western portion of the state. It is believed to be either parent company or else closely affiliated with PC Exploration since both companies share the same address and phone number.

Update: Phillips Resources, including Phillips Exploration Inc., and TWP Inc., was acquired by ExxonMobil on June 2, 2011, for $1.69 billion.

According to the Phillips web site, accessed in late August, 2010, the company's leasehold consisted of roughly 250,000 net acres. It owns or operates in excess of 4,000 natural gas wells in Pennsylvania. The company develops both shallow conventional formations as well as in the Marcellus shale. To date, it has drilled or participated in drilling over 50 vertical and horizontal Marcellus wells.

Phillips is known to have been an active driller in Butler, Fayette, Indiana and Westmoreland counties. It had also been issued drilling permits in 2009 for additional locations in Allegheny, Armstrong, Clearfield, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Tioga, and Washington counties.

Phillips was in the news in August, 2010 when it and the Pennsylvania Game Commission hosted a field day near one of the company's well sites on the Edward Gaw Farm, 411 May Lane, Evans City, Butler County, PA. On display were the company's efforts to reclaim a well site and return it, as closely as possible, to its original condition before drilling. The public was invited in to view results of the reclamation activities.
